Chi Rho Antiqued Silver Plated Cufflinks

These antiqued silver cufflinks carry the Chrismon of St. Ambrose. The original is a marble disc in the Duomo of Milan, and by tradition it goes back to St. Ambrose himself, the bishop of Milan who baptized St. Augustine in 387. It is said he used it to teach those preparing for baptism. The Chi and the Rho are the first two letters of Christ's name in Greek, and the Alpha and Omega beside them are the first and last letters of the alphabet, because Christ is the beginning and the end. We thought it so beautiful that we made it the Catholic Men's Shop logo.

Why These Cufflinks

Before the battle of the Milvian Bridge in 312, the emperor Constantine saw this sign in the sky with the words "In this sign you will conquer." He won, and the Chi Rho became the sign of Christ's victory. A man who wears these cufflinks carries that promise into his own day, for the glory of God. The antiqued finish darkens the cuts so the monogram reads like the old stone it comes from.
