Description
We’ve grown way too comfortable with the story of Jesus.
Nice man, right? Taught us to love one another. Said not to judge people. Tragically killed by his enemies. We celebrate his birthday every year.
It’s time to put away this small, safe version of Jesus, says Cy Kellett (host, Catholic Answers Live). Nobody that bland could have transformed the world as he did. In A Teacher of Strange Things, Cy presents Jesus Christ undiluted by sentiment or familiarity, with all his radical words and deeds uncensored.
Who was Jesus? What did he claim to be? Why did he captivate his followers and foes alike? Should we separate the “Jesus of history” from the “Jesus of faith”?
What did Jesus teach? Did he really say he’s the only way? When he commanded us to love and not to sin, what did that mean? Which doctrines did he take for granted and which did he turn upside-down?
Why do people still follow him? Where does Jesus still live and teach today? How does Jesus fit in a modern world moving away from God? Is it really possible to be friends with someone who died 2,000 years ago?
Cy takes you on a journey of discovery through these questions and many more, helping you see with fresh eyes the once-familiar Jesus Christ. If you are a seeker, you will rethink everything you took for granted about him. If you are his follower, you will come to love him with new and greater zeal.
Don't put off digging into one of the most important things you'll ever learn! Get your copies of A Teacher of Strange Things and spread the word to friends and family alike!

Get to Know Jesus Better
What a wonderful book. Written in such a way, that it's accessible to all ages. Fort the younger or newer Catholics, this book teaches you who Jesus was and how his ministry was implemented. For the seasoned Catholic, this book will bring you closer to Jesus and learn to understand him in ways you might not have though of previously. How his relationship with the apostles flourished and the complex relationship with Peter that is now clearly defined. Highly recommended!

Really really loved this book. It reads "like a story of friends"!
I've been looking for something that I can give as a gift to my grown kids and grandkids ... all of whom claim to be Catholic, are really good wonderful people ... but I've felt for some time that they may not be able to articulate "why" they are Catholic (or Christian) except to imply or say "I was born into it"; to really "know why they go to Mass"; or what they really know about Jesus.... in fact, my second grown grandson once said when he was 3 or 4 "I don't know the growed-up Jesus" (he loved the figures of the nativity set). So the "story of the friendship of Jesus and Peter" as Cy has related it in this book ... will likely be the answer to that question for him. At least I hope and pray it will! It surely provided a model for me...
