Meeting The Protestant Challenge

Excellent book. I’ve been in discussions with a colleague who is Protestant and has several objections to Catholicism. This book has answered them all. It’s been a relief to have a robust and simple answer to Protestant objections. Good job Karlo.

A great book by Karlo. Short chapters with concise and clear presentations defending the Catholic faith against Protestant objections. In this book, Karlo presents the objections then gives various reasons why the Catholic faith is biblical and gives a short counter argument to present to Protestants at the end of each chapter.

This book has short, well-written chapters to make each challenge easy to understand.

Very good book logically laid out with excellent explanations of and responses to common Protestant challenges to Catholic teachings. Every Catholic should understand these issues discussed in this book not only to respond to critics of our faith but to grow in depth and understanding of the Catholic Church. Your faith will become more complete and mature as you read this book!!!

I was raised Catholic and left the church some 30 years ago, now I am neither Catholic nor Protestant - simply Christian. I do listen to Catholic Answers on the radio during my commute and often feel drawn back towards the church. Not having an informed person to speak with and discuss these issues, I really appreciated the way in which Karlo Broussard wrote this book. He opens with Mark 7:9 which reads, 'You splendidly ignore the commandment of God so that you can maintain your tradition' -- which is the typical opinion non-catholics hold towards Catholics. The eight sections of the book are all well written. I especially like the counter-arguments, defining specific Greek terms, logic, and the gracious way Broussard lovingly invites dialogue and agreement. The first section is on Petrine Succession and Church Hierarchy. I can't agree that Peter's statement on the Jerusalem Council (Acts 15) mandates 2000+ years of the papacy nor how Paul's rebuking of Peter's behavior (Gal 2) strengthens Peter's position as leader, but it is thought provoking and lovingly handled. Section III on salvation was exceptionally well written, Section IV on the Sacraments is well constructed and although Broussard's hermeneutics force him to arrive at the Catholic interpretation he discusses multiple objections in a very polite and informed manner. I did not have any arguments against his presentation on Mary in Section V, although I wish he had outlined what the specific dogmas are regarding Mary that Catholics MUST believe. I have seen much done in the name of Mary that I can't find supported and that were not discussed in the book. Most of all I appreciated Karlo's kind final words: ... to share biblical truth is a supreme act of love. Any time we set out to meet a Protestant challenge, we must look through this lens of love. And ultimately, meeting this Protestant challenge is an act of love toward God. It shows that we care enough about the gift of His revelation to get it right.

I am almost done reading this and it has more than I can remember to counter any protestant projection. I would like to have some objections to Sunday mass being unneeded over come. Some people think they are being religious without going to church.

This is so good because though I am an amateur apologist, this catagorizes it and is a great reference book for a quick look up. Helps on the anti-catholic facebook pages I am part of. some people HATE the Catholic church with a passion.
